You will now be ok to fit your kitchen worktop over the tops of your units, don’t forget to allow a hole for your kitchen sink and taps to work in comfortably.

With all the above accomplished you can now begin fitting your kitchen wall cupboards. Remove the doors to your kitchen wall cupboard before lifting it in place.

Have Your Laminate Flooring Fitted In No Time With These Tips

The first thing you need to be sure of before laying any laminate is that your sub-floor is completely level. Take up any old flooring so as you can establish whether your sub-floor is made from wood or concrete.

If you have a wooden sub-floor then you can chose from 2 materials. The first option is to use hardboard; this comes in sheets of either, two feet by four feet or four feet eight feet. Plywood is the more expensive of the two but for good reason as it leaves a solid and level surface from which to fit your laminate flooring. For the best wooden sub-floor finish you should always use plywood, also be sure to fix it down with screws rather than pins.

Levelling a concrete sub-floor is rather tricky and requires using a floor-levelling compound, you may want to leave this to the experts. Also, if you have a concrete floor you will need to lay a membrane down prior to starting the next section.

Your sub-floor is now perfectly level and ready for you to start to fit the laminate. Start by fitting the underlay to the sub-floor. Fix your underlay to the sub-floor either by using glue for concrete or staples for wood as this helps the underlay to stay in place when laying your laminate boards.

After you have fitted your underlay securely to the sub-floor you can start to lay the laminate floor. With your back facing the door start laying the boards in the far left hand corner of the room. Fit the laminate from left to right using 5-8mm spaces away from the wall. You will need to use wedges or spacers each time you lay a board as these will ensure you keep a 5-8mm gap away from the wall at all times, with the final piece in the row you need to measure the gap and then cut the board to fit.

Use as many spacers as you can with the first 3 rows. If you have used enough spacers or wedges then the three rows of laminate should be fitted securely so as they don’t move about.

For the remaining boards just lay as you did the first 3 rows and then when you get to the end allow a 5-8mm gap and cut the boards to size.
